Bidding Prayers
Prayer of the Faithful for the 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Introduction(by the Presider): Let us bring our needs before God, asking for the assurance of divine help:
- That brave people may always speak the truth (pause for silent prayer). Lord, hear us
- That Christians who face persecution may not give up (pause for silent prayer). Lord, hear us.
- That the whole world may help the people of Gaza (pause for silent prayer). Lord, hear us.
- That there may be peace with justice in Ukraine (pause for silent prayer). Lord, hear us.
- That people may be safe on the water in these summer days (pause for silent prayer). Lord, hear us.
- That God may bless our families and help us to listen to each other (pause for silent prayer). Lord, hear us.
The presider prays for the dead: That all our dead may gain a place near God’s throne by their faithfulness —especially N. and N. (we pray quietly for this). Lord, hear us.
Conclusion (by the Presider) Loving God, you are always thinking of your people: stoop down to us and hear our cry for your help, we pray, through Christ our Lord. Amen
